The QCP Board of Review approved the change to offset the increase in travel-related inspection expenses. 2006 QCP RENEWALS DUE JAN. 30The deadline for certified firms to submit QCP renewal fees is Jan. 30, 2006. If you have already submitted your renewal, we thank you and look forward to serving your certification needs! If you haven't sent in your renewal yet, please be sure to do so before the Jan. 30 deadline, and don't forget to include the $300 late fee (as stated in the Policy manual.) Renewals postmarked after the Jan. 30 deadline will be returned. [return to top] SUPPLIERS ELIGIBLE FOR CERTIFICATION
Following a re-evaluation of program policies, the QCP Board of Review has confirmed certification is open to all supplier firms who (1) operate their own plant, (2) fabricate work in sections 300-1700, and (3) meet all requirements of the program. The QCP application fee for suppliers, AWI member or non-member, is $2,800.

In the fall of 2005, QCP surveyed 300 participants by phone in an effort to measure program sentiment and uncover market trends. Following are some highlights of the survey:
QCP GOES GLOBALDan Wendell, QCP Representative Within the last year, the QCP has experienced increased interest from overseas firms. Representatives have traveled to Turkey and Africa several times to conduct inspections and certify firms and projects. Preliminary inspections revealed deficiencies on some projects, but the response from overseas firms toward bringing their projects into compliance has been outstanding. Not only has QCP helped improve the quality of product produced by these firms, it has also helped the architects and owners feel confident about the quality of their projects. Participation in QCP from overseas firms will likely be a growing trend. [return to top] REP. SPOTLIGHT: DAN WENDELLBased in Wichita, Kansas, Mr. Wendell is the QCP representative responsible for most of the Heartland. He has conducted inspections from Louisiana to Nebraska, and Turkey and Africa as well. A former woodwork business owner and active member of AWI for more than 20 years, Mr. Wendell is familiar with the nuances of running a small business and has lent much of his time to various AWI committees. In addition to serving as a QCP representative, Mr. Wendell currently owns his own woodwork consulting firm. He is a graduate of the NCKAVT School of Carpentry and Cabinetmaking and the Central Drafting College. [return to top] UPCOMING QCP EVENTS
PREPARING FOR YOUR BIANNUAL INSPECTIONQCP Policies require that all certified firms undergo re-inspection every two (2) years. Here's what you can do to make the process go smoothly: 1. Submit shop drawings to your QCP representative for review prior to the re-inspection.
Note that whenever a sample is found non-compliant, re-inspection is at the expense of the participant firm, therefore, familiarity with the above requirements can help save time and money. To obtain a copy of the Sample Criteria, please contact kthorp@awinet.org.
PUT YOUR CERTIFICATION CREDENTIALS TO WORKAs evidenced by the telephone survey conducted last fall, many QCP participants feel marketing is a key benefit of the QCP. Use of the widely recognized QCP logo, for example, is an excellent way to identify your firm as top-notch! Use the logo on your business cards, letterhead, vehicles and shop drawings. Promotion of your certification credentials and the rigorous testing and inspection process conducted and verified by QCP - an impartial, third-party - can really help you stand out from your competition!
